Duchess Potatoes – Patate Duchesse

by chiaweb

Following the GialloZafferano recipe tonight I cooked some duchess potatoes! Yummy!

1) chop the potatoes (about 250 gr) and cook them in hot water;

2) drain the potatoes and smash them;

3) mix the smashed potatoes with 25g of butter, salt, pepper and nutmeg; you can add also grated parmesan cheese;

4) add 1 yolk and keep mixing;

5) put the puree in a piping bagwith a large star tip, if you don’t have it you can make it with the cut corner of a freezer bag or just using 2 small spoons to create a shape;

6) create small rosettes onto a baking sheet and cook in a preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

7) place baking sheet on middle rack in oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until tops are lightly browned.

8 ) serve hot! Enjoy your meal!

A small trip to Ravenna

by chiaweb

Happy New Year!

Last week I went with my boyfriend to a beautiful city called Ravenna. It’s only about 1 hour and a half away from my home so we did a day trip there. Ravenna is known for hosting 8 UNESCO World Heritage Site and for its mosaics.

We were lucky to find a car park near the first place I wanted to visit called Basilica of SanVitale: one of the most famous church in Ravenna.
Basilica of San Vitale

Inside the Basilica the mosaics embrace the visitors that can’t stop looking everywhere to find more and more mosaics!

Then we visited other cultural sites, rested a bit in a bar and had a stroll around the city centre.
